The consultation session which will take place at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre is part of the state government’s Safer Together program, which seeks to educate people living in regional and rural areas about active fire prevention.
“Our collective knowledge of bushfire, combined with the community’s understanding of what is important, their local knowledge and experience, have contributed to our plans for Autumn burning,” Grampians regional manager of forest and fire operations Peter Kambouris said.
The sessions come as part of the state government response to the 2015 inspector-general for emergency management’s report into fuel management targets, which suggested changing the approach to fuel management from hectare targets to a minimising risk to communities.
