The day attracted more than 1000 spectators, with famous jockeys Michelle Payne and Damien Oliver as guest contestants and TV personality Catriona Rowntree as a guest umpire.
Highlights of the cup included a parade of vintage and modern Porsche vehicles; a grooms’ race, wherein grooms had to jump out of and pack their swags, race down the course, saddle a pony and ride it back; and a Porsche vs pony race (won by the Porsche).
Victors on the day were the Off the Track team of Troy McBean, Corin Gibbs and Tomas Fernandez. Laurie Meyer of Colliers White won the MVP, and Tomas Fernandez’s Babboo won the best playing pony.
The state polo circuit continues this weekend with the prestigious Victorian Polo Association Championships kicking off on February 18.
In 2017 the event will take place at the Eynesbury Polo Club in Hawthorn, finishing on February 19.
