Playing fellow top team, Globbogym, this was District’s fifth attempt to win the open division trophy.
The first set of the grand final was led by the spiking domination of Doug May and Gary Thomas, from District, with scores of 25/12.
The second set was a closer contest, with young gun Ryan Coleiro setting well to his spikers Peter Hunt and Adam Tonna from Globbogym.
However, great team play from District had them win the set 25/20.
In the third set young Shannon Harraghy from Globbogym saved numerous balls spiked by the Districts Stewart Jonai to almost turn the match.
However, with Andrew Cooper and Andrew Denis pushing the ball up to their tall spikers Martin Steinocker and Dean Homicki the pressure continued to mount and District won the set and match 25/23.
