The 19-year-old works at a hotel in Kyneton and attends the Windarring Centre, requiring him to make the trip to Kyneton around three times a week. 

Unable to drive, Mr Morris is forced to catch a bus from Trentham to Woodend Station in the morning before continuing on the train to Kyneton. 

Mr Morris said tourists and locals alike were regularly left stranded by the infrequent services, which made it difficult to get around the region without a private car. 

“Daylesford is a huge tourist town for the Macedon Ranges, but unfortunately it is let down badly by a lack of convenient public transport,” Mr Morris said.  

Currently, Mr Morris is forced to wait until 6.25pm to catch the bus back from Woodend Station to Trentham, a service which is often held up as it is forced to wait for the train coming in from Kyneton.  

Mr Morris has created a petition calling on PTV and the state government to consider adding early afternoon services returning to Daylesford through Trentham to make the bus service more attractive.

Since starting the petition around two months ago, Mr Morris has collected almost 400 signatures from around the Trentham community. 

“This (will be) good for the people of Trentham and will also help me get to work,” Mr Morris said.

Mr Morris has earned the support from some of the region’s most influential figures, including Hepburn Shire mayor Sebastian Klein. 

Councillor Klein said Kyneton was the primary shopping destination for many people on the eastern side of the shire, and he regularly heard queries from residents about the lack of public transport infrastructure. 

“Most of the serious shopping happens in Kyneton and for a lot of people that’s where they get their essential supplies from,” Cr Klein said.  

“Numerous people have raised it with me particularly over the last six or eight months, and it’s particularly important for people with a disability or older residents.  

“I’m really hopeful this will get a fair hearing from the state government.”
