Rodgers, a multiple senior premiership player with the Bulldogs, takes on the role held by Rod Sewell for the past two years.
Marcus Goonan will continue into his second year as senior coach at Daylesford, which he returned to finals football last campaign.
He said Rodgers, who is expected to keep playing in the seniors, will bring a wealth of experience to the reserves position.
“It will be great to have that much senior football experience to help develop the reserves group and get them ready for senior football,” Goonan said.
Daylesford is still chasing under-15 and under-18 football coaches for next season.

Meawhile, past Central Highlands Football League team of the year member Daniel James is set to return to Gordon in 2017.
James, who was named at centre half forward in the 2013 all-star side, has indicted that he will be back from overseas travel and line-up for the club next season.
The versatile forward has not played for Gordon since 2014 when he kicked 21 goals from 16 senior appearances in a campaign that reached a preliminary final.
Coach Gary Learmonth is saddling up for his second year in charge of the Eagles and confirmed talented onballer Steven Patterson would not be part of his squad due to moving interstate.
One of the key men behind Springbank’s rise to the top of the Central Highlands Football League is still weighing up his playing future.
According to Tigers coach Michael Searl late last week, Paul McMahon was unlikely to saddle up for a fifth season with the Tigers, but after conversations over the weekend, he remains more positive about the star forward playing on in 2017.
Searl, who led the club to its second-straight flag alongside joint-coach Nick Couch in September, believes McMahon is also considering a return to former club Lake Wendouree or even taking time away from the game.
“He’s got some serious things to consider with where he lives and with his upcoming wedding, so he needs to put his best interests first,” Searl said.
“We are hoping he wants to stay and be part of it again.”
