Ten days ago a question mark - and heavy rain clouds - hung over the future of Run Ballarat.
Today 6,408 people turned out to Ballarat High School, breaking $1 million in fundraising.
Ballarat Health Services CEO Dale Fraser said the money raised would 'make a big difference to the way children are treated in Ballarat.'

2016 looks like the year to smash all kinds of records. Over 6000 people have turned out for the charity run and walk and it looks like the total amount of money donated wil exceed past years.

8.40am Para-athletes, including Rio Paralympian Richard Colman, have kicked off Run Ballarat's 12-kilometre run.
Last year's numbers have been blitzed with over 6000 registrations.
There are still four events to go.

Here is just one of the great volunteers who was up at the crack of dawn making sure Run Ballarat is a success.
7.50am. It's chilly with the temperature nudging just 4 degrees and a slight breeze of 9km/h chilling the bones from the South west but that hasn't stopped hundreds from Ballarat’s favourite fun-run
The good news is clear skies are greeting the early birds and there is even a touch of sun as they limber up for the 12km run.

8.30am start for the 12km run
9.15am start for the 6km run
9.45am 6km start for the Family walk
11am start for the 1km Kids run
