The event titled ‘Jillaroos and Jackaroos bail up the banks’ will feature a two course dinner as well as an opportunity to listen to guest speaker Cate Stuart, who herself has fallen on hard times as a land owner.
Ms Stuart had been the owner of Mount Morris Station, a 20,000 hectare farm in the south-west of Queensland.
After purchasing the property in 2008, the Stuart family soon found themselves in a situation of financial hardship, fighting with their bank to keep control of the property.
After continuing to battle with the bank the $2.2 million property was eventually seized from the Stuart family, forcing them to resort to renting.
The Dean/Newlyn Young Farmers are encouraging anyone with an interest in property ownership to come along and her Ms Stuart’s story.
