V/Line has revealed its Ballarat train schedule for grand final week.

Ballarat locals attending the Sydney Swans v Western Bulldogs grand final on Saturday can catch the 9:12am, 10:12am or 11:32am trains from Wendouree, which will arrive at Southern Cross well before the game start time. Services are scheduled to operate as six-carriage VLocity trains.
An extra train to cater for footy passengers will depart Wendouree Station at 9:40am and arrive at Southern Cross Station at 11:09am.
Getting home from the game, customers can board the additional footy service which will depart Southern Cross at 6:45pm and arrive at Wendouree at 8:17pm.
Passengers can also catch the 6:15pm Southern Cross to Wendouree, 7:15pm Southern Cross Station to Ballarat or the 8:55pm Southern Cross to Ballarat services.
A valid myki or paper ticket is required for travel on all V/Line train and coach services.
Meanwhile, services will run to a Saturday timetable on Friday’s grand final eve public holiday, while Ballarat residents heading to the grand final parade can catch the 9:12am service from Wendouree to Southern Cross Station, which will operate as a six-carriage VLocity train.
An additional train will depart Bacchus Marsh Station at 9:40am for a 10:23am arrival at Southern Cross.
Following the parade, an extra service to Wendouree will depart Southern Cross at 2:55pm. Customers can also catch the 3:15pm service from Southern Cross Station to Ballarat or the 4:15pm service from Southern Cross Station to Wendouree.
Meanwhile, the free tram zone to the MCG will start on Wednesday, September 28 and run until grand final day on October 1.
Services from the city to stops 9, 10 and 11 on Wellington Parade near the MCG will be free, as will services to stops 7a and 7b at Rod Laver Arena and stop 7c at MCG/Hisense Arena.
Train fares on grand final Friday and Saturday will be capped at $6 a day for travel in zones one and two.
