The grant was announced last week as the government released the recipients of the 2016-17 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program.
Under the program, the government commits $2 for every $1 raised by volunteer groups to help them buy additional trucks, tankers, watercraft and trailers, and carry out minor facility upgrades.
Along with Glenlyon’s coup, Franklinford has received $11,000 for concrete paving of their building, Leonards Hill and District received $4305 for a pergola and Musk received $2163 for a life-saving defibrillator.
In total, Hepburn Shire will receive $117,468 to replace ageing equipment, provide specialist cool climate clothing, improve work amenities and boost support for brigades.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said Glenlyon’s tanker was 20 years old and needed replacing.
“These grants will provide a welcome boost to volunteer CFA brigades in the Hepburn area helping them buy the equipment they need to keep Victorians safe,” she said.
“The Andrews Labor government is supporting emergency service volunteers to do their life-saving work safely and effectively by providing grants for vital equipment and resources.”
