That’s why a group of Daylesford’s University of the Third Age members have decided to combine their two passions – food and helping others.
Luigi Soccio developed his taste for helping others after visiting Nepal a few years ago and seeing the grassroots work Rotary is doing there in earthquake reconstruction.
To help support initiatives like this, U3A will host a monthly Pasta Against Poverty lunch at the Food Gallery in Vincent Street.
The first one will be held this Saturday, July 30, from 12.30pm. All funds raised will go toward a Rotary project, building a Sindhuli Community Technical School In Nepal.
Gust speakers include Bruce Duffy from the Rotary Club of South Wagga Wagga, and Amit Thapa, chairman and co-founder of Friends of Nepal Australia.
Cost is $20 for a three course meal with a choice of main pasta dish. RSVP to Mr Soccio by emailing lms12jan@hotmail.com or phoning 0469 920 365.
