More than 100 past and present members attended, sharing memories and reminiscing about the club’s proud history.
Club memorabilia, including jumpers, trophies, medals, photos and catalogues of past news articles from The Advocate were on show.
The club was founded in early 1986 with a handful of members, handmade goal posts and no permanent home.
Thirty years later the club is going strong and have a permanent home, full support of the Hepburn Shire and community, around 100 registered players, four competitive teams with girls making up nearly half of all our juniors.
Special guest, Nick Ansell, from Melbourne Victory attracted a lot of attention from the crowd.
“It was a pleasure to be here and it is great to see how well entrenched soccer is in the Daylesford community”, the Victory defender said.
Life members Martin Szokolai, Bryn Hills and Laurie Nulty spoke enthusiastically about their time at the club and shared witty anecdotes from their long association.
A new life member Ivan Carter was welcomed into the club. Club president Peter D’onghia said: “Ivan is an excellent player and has been for well over 20 years.
“He is a tireless promoter of the club, has been president, is still a committee member, has wrangled players, coaches, committee members, parents and has been club and league club/league best and fairest.”
Club founder Martin Szokolai announced the Team of the Century.
