Rarely do you see such a complete musician as Jali Buba Kuyateh. Born in Casamance, the southern region of Senegal, Jali Buba grew up living between neighbouring countries, The Gambia and Senegal. Jali Buba comes from a griot (hereditary musician) family, where he has played kora since the age of five. Jali has appeared at festivals around Australia. He was invited to perform with some of Australia’s top musicians including jazz legend Bob Sedergreen, guitarist Doug DeVries, and West African musicians, Afro Moses, and the Mohata brothers.
Saturday, Liz Frencham and Robbie Melville @ Horvat’s Supper Club
Liz Frencham is a warm, exuberant performer associated with multiple successful collaborations (FrenchamSmith, Jigzag and Dev’lish Mary) and a captivating soloist. She easily traverses genres from folk and bluegrass through to jazz and blues with gentle expertise and plenty of good humoured banter. She also maintains a career as a respected accompanist, producer and arranger both onstage and in the recording studio. Liz entered her professional music career as a self-taught double bass player and soon made a name for herself with her incredible ear and ability to quickly add vocal harmonies to any song.
