The Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club seniors had a cracking 7-1 win against Sebastopol Vikings. It was the first win against Vikings since 2011 and United’s biggest win against the Vikings since 2000.

Both teams had early chances, with ace keeper Jarrod Provider keeping Daylesford in the match with some amazing saves.
Daylesford raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half, courtesy of some excellent work from Sean Parklands and Abdel Bennani and Gonzalo Silva, who provided some excellent goals. Jordy Barnes controlled the midfield and managed a great goal.
Bennani also provided goals and was close to best on ground on the day, while Gonzalo and Jeff Brownscombe were the stand-outs in defence.
Vikings pulled one back before halftime, to make it 3-1, but Daylesford opened the floodgates in the second half to score four more goals from Abdel, Jordy and Sean. Hiroshi Masuda returned from injury and stood out with quality and class, and captain Ivan Carter got in a few kicks.
The Daylesford team plays VicPark White at home this weekend, at 1pm.

Under 11s
AN impressive performance from the Daylesford U11 young guns saw them trounce VicPark White. The Vultures were outplayed and outscored in a game which saw Mehdi score an excellent early goal.
The Ballarat outfit scored a well-deserved equaliser, but this was where their defensive efforts stalled. The young Saints controlled the game from then on, scoring another five goals.
Zac and Tulley seemed to be everywhere and there was some strong running from Asha, Anna, Freya and Lila to ensure the Vultures were always under pressure. Monty and Bernie in the back protected the excellent Luka in goal.
Score: Daylesford won 6-2.
Under 13s
THE U13s played Bacchus Marsh, with a winning result from kick-off.
The midfield of Ahlia, Rennie and Alice and the defence of Otto, Franki and Eric stifled any attempt to move close to the goal.
After several near misses from Rohan, and Miles, Finn sent the ball into the back corner shortly before half time. Daylesford were up 1-0. The second half saw Daylesford dominant in their attack resulting in two goals from Jonas and Otto.
