In fact, according to the children of Bullarto Primary School, goats can be fantastic to kid around with.
The school, in conjunction with the Central Highland Goat Club, will host the Bullarto Primary Goat Masterclass on June 5.
Participants will learn how to milk a goat, separate milk, churn butter and make ice-cream and a soft cheese.
Central Highlands Goat Club president Neil Pearson and other club members will teach attendees all the skills they need, following on from a similar event last year.
Bullarto Primary is located at the head of the Wombat State Forest and has its own small goat stud, allowing children and families to care for the goats and gain experience in milking them and making a range of products.
“I like having animals at school. Goats are friendly and cute. They are quiet animals. I enjoy milking them and then making ice-cream,” Veronica in Grade 6 said.
Tickets are $75, including a light lunch, and are available at www.trybooking.com/KWWC. All proceeds go to the school.
