Geoffrey Williams grew up on a diet of Desmond Dekker, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and 60s & 70s UK Pop.
Geoffrey describes his music as "Marvin Gaye meets Joni Mitchell in a UK suburb over a pot of my mum's rice and peas."
Geoffrey is currently teaching but before he turned to that career he was writing for Michael Jackson, Dusty Springfield and Shaun Escoffrey.
Saturday, Burnt Letters @ Perfect Drop
Burnt letters is a Melbourne project featuring local songsmith Kinch Kinski and writer and singer Lou Pine. Burnt letters is all about lush vocal harmonies and well-crafted songs.
They're part alt-country, part blues, part folk and part rock and roll.
Kinch has been described by Andy Hazel (the Bedroom Philosopher, the Paradise Motel) as “wholly remarkable and original... one of the true hidden gems in Australian music today”.
Saturday, Kilbourne Family Fundraiser @ Old Hepburn Hotel
An evening of amazing music as part of the ‘Weekend 4 Wayne’ fundraising drive will be held at the Old Hepburn Hotel to raise funds for Wayne Kilbourne’s medical treatment, as he battles cancer. Doors open at 5pm and entry fee is $10.
Headlining the night will be the American Classics, featuring The Voice 2013 finalist Michael Stangel. The line up also includes ‘BlueJam’ featuring Kare Berg and local musicians Buck Jnr and Eammon Harraghy.
Sunday, Lucie Thorne with Hamish Stewart @ Bridge Hotel, Castlemaine
The album Everything Sings Tonight has been out for a couple of months now and it’s probably Lucie’s best work.
The lead single, The Rushing Dark, features Thorne’s signature poetics and harmony and the musical magic of special guests Bo Ramsey (Lucinda Williams, Greg Brown) and Chris Abrahams (The Necks).
To celebrate the release of The Rushing Dark, Lucie Thorne and Hamish Stuart play this show in an intimate setting to perform songs from this and her impressive body of work.
