Last week pupils planted the newest addition to the playground in recognition of National Tree Day on July 22.

Head teacher Meg Cox said all pupils at the small school loved gardening and engaged in outdoor activities as part of the curriculum.

The tree was donated to the school of 21 pupils by Hepburn Shire councillor Bill McClenaghan who also joined in and helped plant the tree. 

“A liquid amber tree was chosen because of its beautiful autumnal colours,” Ms Cox said.

“It has been added as a feature to the school’s new interactive garden area.

“The garden includes a fairy garden, water pump and musical instruments,” Ms Cox said.

The school has pupils from prep to grade 4, who all loved digging in the mud.

“The children thoroughly enjoyed getting their hands dirty,” Ms Cox said.
