Renowned Korean potter Hyangjong Oh will judge entries for this year’s awards, and offer a two day workshop and illustrated talk while visiting.
Chair Graeme Johnstone said Mr Oh’s inclusion added to the prestige of the awards.
“We are expecting 100 to 150 pieces, including big sculptures, tiny vases, bowls and ceramic necklaces,” he said.
“It’s one of the most sought after awards because prizes (total $13,000) and the winning piece will be acquired by the Ballarat Art Gallery.”
He entries were already coming in from all over Australia, with works to be judged on technique, style and the level of artisan work.
Previous winners include Dean Smith, of Castlemaine.
Mr Oh’s workshop demonstration will be held at the Clayspace studio in Daylesford on September 15 and 16. The illustrated talk, in Clunes, is scheduled for September 17.
