Traders and shoppers alike seemed to embrace the concept of localism. I overheard the free range beef seller declare that she had “sold half a steer”.
Shoppers were to be seen staggering away under the weight of fruit and vegetables, as well as honey, meat, cheese, coffee, wine and vegetable seedlings.
Such a successful event can’t help but encourage the exciting idea that the challenges which face us this century could be met by a return to local production, to the great advantage of the people of Central Victoria.
