One has walked away from the heated rhetoric, one thinks there should be room for some of us to opt out of the waste/recycle pick-up and remain on the ticket system, one thought he had undue pressure put on him and one questioned the fairness of the whole deal.
For me, trying to see both sides is difficult. The two key words seem to be ‘fairness’ and ‘opt’. The confusion on what is curbside certainly has the country locals talking. The money saving quoted by certain council officers looks to be at the expense of many ratepayers.
To help clarify this issue a public meeting needs to be called, with both sides represented. I think this should give concerned people a fair say.
One hundred years ago Anzac diggers gave their all for the beliefs of their homeland and a fair democratic go. If you have a valid reason why the proposed waste management system does not suit you, please attend the meeting that will be advertised at a later date. Your opinion does count and if the numbers add up, people in positions of governance will be made to take note.
