It is everyone’s right to object to proposals at any stage of its development. Truth brings awareness, which is why most objections come later due to the lack of transparency and incompetency of council and the focus groups involved.

As one of many people questioning the need for a multipurpose Hub in the small hamlet of Trentham and why it has to be at the loss of one of the most historic buildings, there has still been no open debate about alternative sites.
Do objections really matter or does the political machine plough through people regardless of the collateral damage?
And now we have a Streetscape plan that appears to me like its total design is aimed at making the out of character Hub fit it.
So the whole towns’ authentic old world country charm, that has attracted visitors for years, has to be compromised.
This is insanity!!!
No matter how the “sustainable” products match the soil and natural environment, they look cheap and shallow. Why not antique wrought iron seats and recycled timber?
The barricades that dictate when and where locals can cross the street! It looks like the Calder freeway!
Bricking the last remaining gravel path at the 1865 built Cosmopolitan Hotel! Ugly pine bollards informing of historical landmarks, whilst we destroy the history of the town! Sheer madness!!
If this is all aimed at visitors, let’s hope they don't need to use our public toilets in the Quarry St Reserve or Market St.
They are an embarrassment!!!! Smelly, dirty and rarely any toilet paper. I fear the town plan for Trentham, with its promenade presentation, is telling visitors to “give us your money and piss off!”
How about providing a service for our visitors to do the most important of business? There are so many practical ways to spend money in the town.
Trentham is at risk of becoming an exploited, contrived, shallow tourist town. This is far from equity. Our rates will go up!!! Is this what we want?
