Anderson and Duclos (The Advocate, November 12) are saddened to hear of a push to place tourism intrastructure on the Bullarto Hall grounds but I believe they have been misinformed. Having lived and worked in the Bullarto community for some decades and being chairperson of the Bullarto Community Planning Group I am not aware of any such proposal.

Some very basic new community facilities are proposed to be constructed on the old public tennis court land in Bullarto as this is the only vacant Council owned land remaining in the township. Council has recently declared this area as a recreation reserve for Bullarto.
The proposed new facilities are similar to those already existing in the nearby hamlets of Glenlyon and Lyonville, being an interpretive display, community noticeboard and basic picnic shelter. These facilities are primarily for the use of the local community and will display historical information, bush walks, important CFA information and a meeting place for the local community. Visitors to Bullarto travelling on the Daylesford Spa Country Railway are also expected to occasionally utilise the area as the substantial Bullarto Station redevelopment project will see many more visitors over coming years.
Importantly the proposed site for the new facilities is well set back from the immediate vicinity of the Hall and are not on the Hall grounds so will not interfere with private functions such as weddings, but are in close enough proximity that they could be used for catering purposes if so desired, a win-win situation. Our son was recently married at the Hall with over 100 guests so we are well aware of the need for an outside covered area for catering purposes in the inclement weather often experienced at Bullarto.
We understand Council will be announcing another community get-together at Bullarto shortly. There have already been two well attended this year. Anyone interested in the new community facilities project for Bullarto is encouraged to attend.
