A contingent of 30 children and adults from Daylesford Tang Soo Tao martial arts club participated in the biannual event.
"It was so exciting to be training and competing alongside people from all over Australia." said blue belt Jen Bray.
"Sometimes here in Daylesford we forget we are part of something bigger so it was amazing to see everyone gathered in the stadium all with a shared love of martial arts."
The 'karate kids' were able to participate after many months of fundraising, helped by the support of the local community.
Senior instructor and third Dan black belt Tara Haneveld said a total of $8000 was raised.
"It was wonderful to see the efforts of not only of the students, but of families and friends to make the trip possible," she said.
"Daylesford Tang Soo Tao brought home their fair share of medals from the tournament, but the greatest prize was probably memories of an incredible experience."
