Damaging wind squalls 60 to 80 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are forecast for parts of the Wimmera, North Central, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland districts and also for Alpine parts of the Northeast forecast districts.
The highest wind squalls are most likely with and for a few hours following the front.
Highest wind gusts so far today: 111km/h at Mt Gellibrand, 104km/h at Nhill, 98 km/h at Mt Hotham and 94km/h at Cape Nelson.
