About 70 participants took to the 50 kilometre course, battling challenging terrain and muddy conditions - with some coming as far away as South Australia. 

Vinduro is a sport that recreates off road motorcycle endurance events in the 1970s and 80s, with Sunday's event put on by the Vintage Enduro Riders Inc club.

VERi Club Secretary Peter Drakeford had wanted to conduct an event in the Blackwood area for some time.

"I’ve wanted to run an event here for ages, as I knew it’d be a perfect location, and it was," he said. 

Mr Drakeford said the club hoped to return to Blackwood next year. 

VERi conducts several events during the year, including an event at Beaufort on November 8 and 9, 2014.
