The Bulldogs’ 2014 CHFL campaign came to a grinding halt on Saturday when they lost their elimination final clash with Buninyong 14.15 (99) to 9.10 (64).
That loss has only fuelled Adams’ desire to lead his beloved Bulldogs again next year.
“The club and I will sit down in the next couple of weeks, but I’m keen to coach again,’’ Adams said.
“I really enjoyed coaching the young guys this year. It was great to see them improve in the second half of the year.”
Adams and the Bulldogs went into the clash with Buninyong in season-best form.
They started the elimination final well, kicking four goals to one with the aid of a strong breeze in the first quarter.
Their 21-point lead, however, evaporated quickly.
Buninyong piled on 6.7 to 0.1 in the second quarter to take control of the match.
The Bulldogs did get back within two goals in the third quarter, but a late Buninyong goal against the breeze made life tough for Daylesford.
Buninyong controlled the footy in the final term to win comfortably by 35 points.
The Bulldogs’ inability to score against the breeze proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Daylesford kicked 1.2 into the wind for the match, while Buninyong added 4.4.
“We just couldn’t find a way to score against the wind,’’ Adams said.
“That second quarter we couldn’t get the ball forward and Buninyong took over.”
Adams said it was a disappointing end after a promising finish to the home and away season.
“I can handle it if you play well but still lose, but I can’t handle it if you play poorly and lose,’’ Adams said.
“After the first quarter we didn’t give ourselves much of a chance.”
On a day when the Bulldogs struggled to find four-quarter performers, Darcy Shewell, Jesse Browne and Luke Said battled hard, while Andrew Button kicked four goals.
Adams said Buninyong had the capabilities of going deep into the finals series.
“They’re well structured and they played some really good patches of footy,’’ he said.
“There’s probably not a lot between the teams that are left.”
