Green Cocky farmer Lynette Kelson was chosen from a strong field of nominees.
The award acknowledges individuals, groups and organisations which show a proven passion and dedication towards improving the environment and human wellbeing in regional and rural areas.
Ms Kelson said it was a real surprise and lovely to hear.
‘‘It was a real hoot. It’s also nice to be recognised and confirms that soil is an important issue,’’ she said.
Ms Kelson is now in the running to win some great prizes including $2000 from Bank of Melbourne or an air time package on PRIME7.
Finalists will be presented and winners announced at an awards gala presentation dinner at Etihad Stadium Melbourne in October.
