After two years as president Jan Pengilley has stepped aside and allowed new member Greg Thompson to lead the club.
Rotary members and invited guests attended an informal change-over dinner at Mr Thompson’s home to allow members to get to know him and his family, and for an informal networking session.
During the hand-over, Ms Pengilley spoke about the many activities Daylesford Rotary is associated with in the area and thanked her committee and members for their dedication and support over her two years as president.
Ms Pengilley said during her presidency she had worked with members to plan and implement some of the club’s many projects.
‘‘This allowed me to settle in to what can be a challenging but exciting job. I totally enjoyed myself.’’
‘‘I love Rotary as I believe in community service and Rotary gives this opportunity to serve the community in a variety of ways,’’ she said.
Mr Thompson agreed that giving back to a community was a major reason why he joined.
‘‘It was time for me to give back, and I am honoured to be elected president of Daylesford Rotary Club.’’
Some achievements in the past few years have been raising $3000 for the Philippines disaster – where the community donated $1000; the Interpretive Board at Daylesford’s Honour Avenue, and ongoing events such as the Daylesford Art Show, business awards and the farmers’ market.
