The telephone box, which once sat in front of the Glenlyon Post Office, was purchased in 1973 for $2 by the Daylesford Historical Society.
DHS curator Gary Lawrence said: ‘‘The wonderful fellas at the DMS generously offered to repair the telephone box.
‘‘It was in a very poor state and the work they have undertaken is a testimony to the skills and talents of this team.’’
Mr Lawrence said when the telephone box first arrived at the men’s shed some of the blokes had laughed and said they should just burn it.
DMS committee member Ken Ferguson said they were proud of what they had achieved.
‘‘Painting is our next task and then it will be looking its old self again,’’ he said.
‘‘All that is missing now is the actual phone from inside and DMS are asking if someone in the community may have one sitting around their shed.’’
DMS secretary, Colin Dunlop said: ‘‘DMS group have completed many community projects and the Daylesford Historical Society is just another local group that we have helped.’’
