Principal Sonia Jardine said the school was a Junior Landcare member of the Clunes Landcare and Waterways group and actively contributed to its environment at the school by planting trees and growing their own vegetables.
‘‘The students have also helped in the redevelopment of the school grounds in the past,’’ she said.
Some parents went along on the day to help the enthusiastic children who were keen to get their hands dirty and start planting trees.
‘‘The weather hasn’t deterred them at all, ‘‘Ms Jardine said.
‘‘The students were very excited. They have been working towards today and talking about it all week,’’ she said.
Asked what they enjoyed about planting trees, the students agreed, ‘‘Because it was fun.’’
