DAYLESFORD police conducted an automatic number plate recognition operation early this week where five drivers were found to be driving unregistered vehicles.
Police also issued a number of general traffic penalty notices, processed several unroadworthy vehicles, conducted breath tests and issued 332 warrants in partnership with the Sheriff’s Department to the value of $96,171.
Recent burglaries have prompted police to remind residents, particularly in rural areas, to be vigilant about locking sheds and outbuildings and to secure machinery and tools.
A house in Drummond was burgled over the weekend with thieves taking 600-700 CD and record albums to the value of $20,000.
Motorists are asked to drive to weather and road conditions.
Sergeant Wayne Gatt said: ‘‘As it is getting colder there are many instances of black ice and we remind motorists to adapt to these road conditions.’’
