Friday August 23, Earl Leonard @ Glenlyon General Store 6-8pm
WITH a warm and powerful voice, Earl Leonard sings story songs, heavy rock'n'roll, dark and stormy blues or joyful, energetic children's music.
His original songs have been described as "sitting somewhere between the music of Cat Stevens and Tom Waits; considerate, literary, occasionally dark but ultimately uplifting".
A singer and rhythm guitarist for Melbourne blues/folk band The Red Cents, the Ballarat rock-band The Rye Catchers and a solo performer he has toured all around Victoria, much of Australia and parts of the UK.
Saturday August 24, Black and Blue @ Savoia Hotel, Hepburn Springs
BLACK and Blue are still promoted as Melbourne's "rootsiest five-piece Blues Rock band".
The bands various members boast of stints recording and playing with a range of bands and artists including Pat Wilson, Paul Norton, Rhonda Burchmore and Tinsley Waterhouse. Black and Blue perform their blend of originals, classic Aussie covers, swing and blues/rock.
Big guitars and horn section make this the sort of grunting R&B we all (should!) love.
Saturday August 24, Long Holiday @ Bridge Hotel, Castlemaine
