TENNIS: Sam Johnson blows in for "fine" victory

26 Jan, 2010 10:02 AM
SAM Johnson blew out the cobwebs after a three year absence, to win section one of Daylesford senior lawn tennis on Saturday, January 23 by the finest of margins.

His 22-18 was successful, just, ahead of the dead-heated pair of Adrian Maude and Greg Malcher with 23-19.

Fourth position was also shared, with Winston Silbereisen and Taylor Hofman 23-21 each of two.

It was a different story altogether in section two with John Turnbull (23-9) showing the others a clean pair of heels. Barry Dimond was next with 20-11, ahead of the 19-14 of Gabe Kirby and Geoff Parentich in equal third.

There will be a barbecue after tennis this Saturday, with meat, veggie burgers and veggies supplied.

BYO salad or desert to share, plus BYO drink and seating.

Non-playing partners and family welcome.

To help with numbers, kindly RSVP to Greg Malcher malcher@netconnect.com.au

Thurs day night tennis continues at 6pm.
