THE Daylesford tennis season began on October 24 in perfect, mild, sunny conditions on expertly-prepared grass courts.
Numbers were somewhat depleted by the ravages of illness, horse-racing and gardening.
Nevertheless a group of enthusiastic players saw the season in with an enjoyable and relaxed social hit-up featuring some familiar faces and several new ones including Pete and Phoenix from Trentham.
Rob Wolff continued his good form from his single appearance last season with a win in each of his three sets.
The season starts in earnest on Saturday, October 31.
Players are required to attend by 1pm for registration for a 1.30pm start to avoid late finishes.
The ladder format means that players unable to participate in a particular week can opt out and visitors and intermittent players (who are most welcome) can be easily accommodated.
All standards are catered for and the aim of the club is for everyone to have an enjoyable afternoon of exercise, keen tennis and social activity.
In addition the social group will be having its initial hit for the season so a big turn-up is encouraged.
Afternoon tea roster: Rob and Kellie Fookes; Bec and Darren Ingram.
Memberships are due so and can be paid to the treasurer on Saturday.
