A KINGSTON showdown served up a tight tussle in Mt Prospect Tennis Association A Grade on Saturday.
Kingston Black and Kingston Blue finished play level on games but Blue took the match on sets, five to four.
Blue men got their team off to a great start with a clean sweep.
Craig Miles showed good form for the Black men, losing his sets by narrow margins.
Black women were determined to get their side back into the match and captured two of the ladies' sets.
This was mainly due to the steady form of Jan Miles.
Leading into the third mixed set, Kingston Black was up by three games. Blues' Stuart Brehaut and Ros Symons came from 3-1 down to defeat Peter Morrish and Fiona Miles 6-3 and seal the match.
In other A Grade matches, Lawrence played solid tennis to defeat Dean, Kingston White defeated Mt Prospect and Smeaton was in very good form to defeat St Augustines.
A Kingston derby was a highlight in A3 with Kingston Red edging out Kingston Gold by one game.
Kingston Red's Mitch Kennedy and Jack Gluyas were the standouts.
