THE match of the round in the Mt Prospect Tennis Association A grade pennant was between Lawrence and Kinston White, with Kingston White going down fighting.
The men for Lawrence had the upper hand over the white men, showing early form and winning the three mens' sets.
Kingston Whites Mick Roach didn't make it easy for the Lawrence men, going down in the first men's in a tie break and just losing the third men's 8-6.
The Kingston White women were determined to get back into the match and took two of the three womens sets, mainly due to the solid play of Michelle Roach.
Going into the third mix, Lawrence was up by two games. White's Jack Lindsay and Alannah Candy were too good for John and Robin Kinnersly winning the set 8-6. But this wasn't enough for White, who went down by one game.
In other A-grade matches, Kingston Blue proved too good for Kingston Black, Dean were too strong for St Augustines Silver (winning by eleven games) and Smeaton were too consistent for Mt Prospect.
The highlight match in A1 was between Invermay and Mt Prospect with Invermay winning by six games. This was due to Carmal Bayley taking her three sets for the day.
Kingston Blue had to work hard in A3 to defeat Dean by 10 games. Jessica Van Rossum and Keelan Gunn were very strong for Gold, both winning their three sets for the day.
