WITH many players still on holidays, only two sections were required for competition tennis at the Daylesford lawn courts on Saturday, while an enthusiastic group of social players also enjoyed the balmy conditions.
In section one Ken Charles, with 22-11, collected the glassware again, with Bernie Frith runner-up on 24-14.
Winston Silbereisen lost just one set for the day, 5-7, but this was enough to relegate him to third with 24-19, ahead of the in-form Rob Wolff with 22-18. Pete Ekstedt was all-square with 22-22 for fifth.
Shane Richardson in section two, playing at the number seven position, delivered big-time with a resounding 24-4 to street the field.
Peter Risstrom with a very respectable 25-11 was second ahead of the improving Bec Ingram who had 18-13 for third. The evergreen John Turnbull 20-17 edged out Brendan Murray 18-17 for fourth.
Some big moves took place on the ladder with Bob Wolff moving to 6th, and Rob Fookes continued his ascent to 8th position with Pete Risstrom 9th.
John Turnbull gained five to now be 12th.
Shane Richardson rose nine places to 16th and Bec Ingram 10 places to 18th.
Greg Malcher lost five places to drop to 13th and Barry Dimond slipped five places to 20th.
