Getting out on the grass at Daylesford is good for you

20 Oct, 2009 11:36 AM
AFTER the long, cold, winter the prospect of warm days on the grass tennis courts of Daylesford has players pumped.

Curator Peter Risstrom, with the aid of Huey, has the courts in sensational condition.

The senior tennis season hits off with a social warm-up afternoon and registration/membership session on Saturday, October 24, from 1pm.

President Adrian Maude and his committee are looking forward to welcoming previous as well as prospective players to the clubhouse balcony overlooking the courts, the town and Wombat Hill for afternoon tea and a hit of tennis.

The season commences officially on Saturday October 31, weather permitting. Competition begins at 1.30pm sharp each Saturday, to prevent late finishes.

All players wishing to play competition must be registered by 1pm.

Competition is ladder-based: a format that does not require a commitment to attend each week.

There will also be the continuation of last year's highly enjoyable social tennis for those who do not wish to be so competitive.

The club welcomes players of all standards, and visitors are asked to attend at 1pm for grading purposes.

All inquiries to Adrian Maude 5348 4821 or Greg Malcher 5348 2536.

*Juniors tennis commences on November 7, with 9am attendance for sign-up. Any inquiries to Vicki Horrigan 5348th3894.
