 Tennis, anyone?

Tennis, anyone?

22 Nov, 2005 10:44 AM
DAYLESFORD'S Lawn Tennis Club is calling out for new members.

Committee member Winston Silbereisen said the club was stuggling for numbers on Saturdays.

"The club invites any tennis players out there to join," he said.

"There are 10 beautiful grass courts to play on."

The tennis club meets every Saturday for a game of social tennis.

Players play about three to four sets.

Juniors play from 9am while seniors play from 1pm.

"The sets are played in sections of eight to 10 of comparable ability," Mr Silbereisen said.

"This means people with the same abilities play each other."

Mr Silbereisen said it was up to the players when they played.

"Players don't have to turn up every Saturday," he said.

"But we like people to turn up as often as they can."

He said there were many benefits of playing tennis with a club.

"It's a great game," he said.

"It's a way to get fit, have fun and meet new people."

The Daylesford Lawn Tennis Club offers coaching every Friday evening at the courts.

Brian Carr coaches players of different standards.

The tennis season goes until March next year depending on the weather.

"If the weather is good we go through to April," Mr Silbereisen said.

Membership for the year costs $110 per person.

"The club will make people most welcome," Mr Silbereisen said.

He said there were playground facilities available for people who had young children.
