THE Clunes Field and Game monthly shoot at the weekend saw 65 shooters compete in a 75-target handicap event.
Windy conditions proved testing, but all reports indicated an enjoyable day with well presented targets.
Shooters were challenged to shooting the targets flown off a cliff as they walked along a creek.
Clunes Field and Game secretary Lynne Jones said the ground varied at each competition to cater for every shooter.
"We take advantage of the landscape. It's spread out so the ground can vary," she said.
Ms Jones said a lot of conservation work had been done to the landscape.
"It used to be a barren wasteland but, with grants, we have planted 20,000 trees," she said.
"There are three wetland areas, kangaroos and koalas."
Ms Jones said the setting was good for novice shooters.
"It's safe as safe. The shooters are really strict among themselves. It's a good place for younger people to start," she said.
With more than 140 members, the Clunes Field and Game is held on the second Sunday of every month all year round.
