BUSHWALKING

Once again we dodged the rain and eighteen of us had a splendid walk around the Curry's Hill area where the regrowth from last year's disastrous fires is very encouraging to see.

This week's Bushwalking tip: Avoid bushwalking on days of total fire ban. The emergency services have enough to worry about without you adding to the problem.

DARTS

THE 2010 season started last week.

First week saw wins to Kettles , Nomads and RSL.

Kettles defeated Aardvarks 7 to 4.

High scores were Joe Stourat 100 and Jug Johns 100.

RSL defeated Daylesford 7 to 4. High scores were Nicole Conroy 118, Brett Marshall 116, Harpo 100, Tom Geddes 100, Jamie Wallace 100.

Nomads defeated Savoia 9 to 2. high scores were Gary Hornsey 100 x 2, Gary Smith 100, Gerry 100.

TRENTHAM GOLF

A BIG field set out for the midweek competition but the monsoon struck, dumping 50mm and washing out the event for the second week in a row.

Seventy six players entered for Saturdays stableford in typical autumn conditions and another close finish, Anthony Pitt 41 won A grade on a countback from Tom Hamlin and Jason Coates.

The best score was from Brian Cross 43 in B grade and Ivanhoe visitor Scott Kerr won C grade with 41.

Next best were M. Ross 40, S. Pyne 40, H. Moore 40 and, on 39, N. Hamson, D. Fry, G. Ford, A. Kerr and D. Doty.

Nearest the pins were D. Hartwig, E. Dutton, J. Bell and J. Smithwick. Next Saturday is a stroke.

HEPBURN GOLF

SATURDAY'S individual stableford ran concurrently with a three person coloured ball stableford.

Best individual score for the day was A Grade winner Charlie Robertson with 42 points while Bruce Cahoon won B Grade with 38.

Other good individual score were Graham Smith 40, Graeme Lucas 39, Wayne Mobbs 38, and Gavin Moffat and Noel Bull 37.

In the women's section best was Rose Mobbs with 39 followed by Jenny May 37 and Phillippa Wooller 35.

The men's coloured ball event was won by Graham Smith, Noel Bull and Graeme Lucas with 42 while Gale Orford, Julie Guiney and Rose Mobbs were best for the women with 34. Nearest the pin on the 17th was Charlie Robertson.

Sunday's par competition went to Terry Santurini +6 from Barry Jenner and Gavin Moffat each +2 and Peter Pedretti and Lindsay Olver both square.

Ian Major was awarded the Lipstick and Tom Pedretti won the NAGA and also made the test team. Nearest the pins were Terry Santurini (11th), Lindsay Priest (13th), Shane Nevill (15th) and Tim Murchy (17th).

Thursday's 13 hold stableford went to Peter Frith 31 points from John Scarffe 30 and Ian Seeley, Charlie Robertson, Ken Rea and Stan Collins all 27.

Rodney Robinson was nearest the pin.

Next Saturday's event is a stableford and on Sunday the competition will be a four ball worst ball stableford.

The club's AGM will be held at the clubhouse on Thursday evening ntsa(18th)nte at 7:30pm.

CLUNES GOLF

THE winner of the Sunday stableford was David Hughes 36 points, runner-up Earl Kent 35. NTP 3rd Earl Kent, magpie ball John Porter.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010 played par. Nearest the pin (3) Laurie Lees. Nearest the Pin (17) Neville Spokes. Magpie Ball 10th Dean Hart. Winner on countback Neville Spokes +1 from Peter Nash +1.

FIELD AND GAME

CLUNES Field and Game Branch February 75 target Handicap event attracted a good number of shooters, the upper ground was set with a range of challenging targets with good scores being seen.

On the calendar this month will be a WIT lesson and testing any inquiries can be made to the secretary 5345 3571 and our March monthly shoot is a 75 target OTG event. New shooters most welcome.

A grade: A. Cox 72, M. Gibbs 66, C. Roberts 65

B grade: M. Hannah 67, D. O'Keefe 66, C. Waight 65
