Sights on Olympics

08 Nov, 2005 01:28 PM
LOCAL support is boosting the Olympic hopes of two Castlemaine Clay Target Club junior shooters.

Aaron Hawdon and Kathy Langridge have been selected as two members of the Australian Clay Target Association's Olympic junior development squad.

Club president Neil Morrison said this meant they had had to travel to Wagga for coaching and training in the Olympic discipline.

"Thanks to the generosity of Maxi, KR Castle Bacon, Castlemaine Mitsubishi and other local businesses, this travel will be significantly reduced in the future," he said.

Mr Morrison said the businesses had provided the Castlemaine Clay Target Club with sufficient funds to buy a second new Gemini brand trap for target launching.

"This now allows the club to use two existing traps in the construction of a ball trap and ISSF style double trap facility which Aaron and Kathy will be able to use for the essential practice they need if they are to realise their Olympic dreams," he said.

Mr Morrison said the Gemini trap improved shooting conditions for the club's Melbourne Cup Day competition which attracted more than 100 shooters from across the state.
