14 Mar, 2006 01:12 PM
THE unbeaten team of Korweinguboora will go head-to-head with Hepburn at this weekend's Daylesford and District Cricket Association grand final at Victoria Park.

Korweinguboora defeated Newlyn by 34 runs at Victoria Park last Saturday and Sunday while Hepburn defeated Blackwood by 93 runs at Hepburn Springs.

DDCA assistant secretary Terry Noonan said there were some fantastic performances at the weekend's matches and throughout the season.

The season saw some fierce competition on the ground but the atmosphere was friendly off the ground.

In round five, Chris Adam, 17, from the Colts made 103 runs not out. Kevin Mobs from Korweinguboora made 155 runs not out in round 10, while Wayne Robinson from Hepburn made 157 not out in round nine, 120 not out in round

11 and 133 out in round 14.

Young talent was also prominent throughout the season including all-rounders Devon Lafanchi and Tom Everiaty from Newlyn, wicketkeeper Scott Anderson from Smeaton, Tom Geddes from the Colts and Kane Trimble from

Korweinguboora.

Jason Mackley from the Colts made a huge improvement starting as the 11th batsman at the beginning of the season to opening.

Mr Noonan said the Colts was a young team that was unlucky to miss out on the finals finishing on 36 points.

Trentham finished on 30 points while Smeaton finished on six points.

"We are seeing a lot more younger players coming up," Mr Noonan said.

The grand final will be played this Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm at Victoria Park. If another day is required it will be played on Saturday, March 25.

Ninety overs will be bowled each day.

DDCA Semi Final results are: Korweinguboora 10/115 (S. Cowan 30, L. Adams 29, D. Hocking 3/43 defeated Newlyn 10/81 C. Stephens 17, L. Adams 4/46 and T. Slater 4/32).
