PIGEONS THE first Central Highland's Pigeon Combine race for the season was flown from Keith, South Australia, on Saturday.
Pigeons were released into a very light SW wind. Pigeons from all clubs gained combine positions. Arron McKay's bird had the fastest velocity of 1470 metres/per min followed by the Eden family with 1461m/min. They both race with Ballarat Invitation Club. Dennis Duffin from Maryborough
Club was third with 1430 m/min. This was a good effort as Daylesford and Maryborough flyers have to give a lot of overfly to Ballarat Flyers.
Three flyers from Daylesford Homing Club featured in the 20 combine positions. Flyers can clock two birds for the combine and Jim Stephenson's pigeons flew well to win the club and also fifth and 13th in the combine. This race was also the Special Building Fund race and this was
on by Robert and Cathy Cormack from Invitation Club. To qualify for this prize pigeons must be purchased at the special auction held in February each year.
Daylesford Homing Club results: First Club fifth Combine - Jim Stephenson - grizle hen - Dayls 05 5217 - 4hrs 9.29min velocity 1393.640; second Club 10th Combine - Ian Robinson - Red Cheq hen - Dayls 07 294 - 4 hrs 24 min velocity 1362.603; third Club 17th Combine - J & N Stubbs - Blue
Cheq Cock - Dayls 05 - 4hrs 17.03min, velocity 1362.545.
Pigeons will fly from Keith again next week. There will be the main race and a Three Bird Special Race, so flyers will need to be on their toes to clock plenty of pigeons.

CRESWICK UNDER-15
THE dominant under-15 team continued on their merry way to score a convincing win by 94 points.
Jack New, Josh Dummelow, Joel Antonio, Sam Lockyer and Liam Hepworth all amongst the best. There were many new faces in the team after illness caused five late withdrawals.
Rhys Antonio, Keegan Pascoe and Billy Marshman all had terrific games and this experience may prove invaluable at finals time. Congratulations to Newlyn boy Shaun Dridan who played his 50th game for the club and also well played to Leigh Allen, Braydn Slater and Bill Lindsay.
CRESWICK UNDER-18
THE under-18 game got off to a similar start with the Wickers up 2.2.14 to nil early but Newlyn came back to level up the scores three goals apiece by half time. The second half and especially the final quarter saw Creswick assert supremacy and run out easy winners 12.9.81 to 6.3.39.
Consistent season performers Brad Murray, Gary Knights, Caleb Hepworth were fabulous contributors.
Goals of the day again went to Mick Lockyer with two specials in the final quarter but it was the seriously attacking footy of unsung heroes Keiran Taylor and Anthony Christoforou that really lifted the team.
This win elevates the team into the final five for the first time since round 8 and necessitates wins against Daylesford and Clunes in the final two rounds to keep it.
