Hepburn Shire Council applies for funding to upgrade Victoria Park

16 Dec, 2008 11:26 AM
DAYLESFORD's Victoria Park will be upgraded if a $127,000 funding application to the State Government's Small Town Development Fund is successful.

ChillOut, Daylesford Highland Gathering, Daylesford Agricultural Society, Daylesford Football and Netball Club and Daylesford Cricket Club Association all use the park.

Mayor Bill McClenaghan said the funding would go towards enhancing the venues capacity to host major and community events.

"If we are successful with our application a number of things will be made possible including upgrading the venue's electrical capacity to provide power to marquees and stalls, installing three-phase power to the main stage area eliminating the need for costly generator hire and better lighting for the football club's night training," he said.

"Some of the money would also be spent on establishing shade covered areas, cricket practice facilities would be located to a more suitable safer site on the ground and the ticket box would be replaced.

"Also in the mix of improvements plan is the replacing of the agriculture pavilion roof."
