IT WAS wet and muddy on Daylesford Speedway at the weekend, and the drivers loved it.
The mud slowed the cars down but there was still some exciting racing.
Peter Dredge in car 69 A Mod hit the wall in the first heat.
When he drove off the wall he had mud impacted around it, giving the impression of a flat tyre. He drove infield and missed the end of the race.
Father and son, Dale and Danny Spurr, fought it out in the heats of the B Mods.
Danny, 16, in car 17 managed to outclass his father in car 18.
This is the first season Danny has raced in the seniors, having spent the past couple of seasons competing in the juniors.
John Baker's V8 car 9 had to get a push off the track after the second heat.
The Volvo push car struggled, so the Suzuki push car came to its rescue.
It ended up with the Suzuki pushing the Volvo, pushing the V8.
Jody Harrison had brought his specially built Volvo from Nagambie to help at the speedway.
The wet conditions were at times testing for it - even though it had six wheels.
At the end of the interval there was a heavy shower.
The drivers took their cars out onto the track to "pack the track" but the shower continued and the mud turned to slush.
The drivers caused more mayhem than the Mothers' Day Massacre, just trying to navigate the track.
The spectators were in stitches.
The race day was declared and the club members successfully managed to get everyone out of the speedway.
The next race meeting is on December 13, starting at 12pm.
Then the Boxing Day Bash is shaping up to be a big one.
