GIRLS' soccer is about to take off in the Hepburn Shire and, with the help of local talent, the Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club expects to fly high.
The club anticipates an under-12 and under-13 side for the start of this year's program.
Club committee member Caroline Stone encouraged as many girls as possible to try the sport.
"It's healthy, it's a team sport, girls are very good at it, they make new friends and it gives them confidence," Ms Stone said.
Ms Stone said local girls showed a lot of talent last year.
"We should win some great prizes and come home covered in glory," she said.
The Saints homeground is at the Daylesford Secondary College. Matches will be held Saturday afternoons starting from March 5.
In other big soccer news, the Saints has the opportunity to enter teams in the Ballarat and District Soccer Association girls' camp tournament.
The prestigious Total Girl Soccer Tournament enables talented players to continue when they would otherwise be pulled out of mixed competition.
As well as soccer matches, the camp will feature a fashion parade, cooking demonstrations and is expected to be screened as a documentary on SBS.
The tournament will be held at Ballarat Grammar on April 1 and 2.
