DAYLESFORD Lawn Tennis Club wrapped up its season at the weekend with awards presented to the men's and women's best percentage scores.
The women's award was decided in the final set of the season with Laura Burton leading Nicole Olver by 0.3 per cent.
Olver, playing with Tanya Bull, needed to defeat Joanne Clough and Burton 6/0 in order to overhaul Burton.
Olver and Bull did win 6/3, but Burton took the award with 96.5 per cent over Olver 96.1 per cent.
In the men's award, Bernie Firth finished on 148 per cent, well ahead of fellow-evergreen and doubles partner Winston Silbereisen on 124 per cent.
A huge 20/9 result on the last day capped a consistent season for John Turnbull who claimed third place on 110 per cent.
In Division 1 Turnbull turned it all on with 20/9 to finish ahead of Leanne Purtell 24/13 and Ros Roberts 20/13.
The steadily improving Peter Risstrom looked a real chance before a disastrous final 0/6 set took him out of contention.
In Division 2 Warwick Clough economically triumphed 20/10 over Chrissie Macdonald 21/13, with the much-improved Andrew Place 23/15 third.
Tanya Bull 21/14 and the tenacious Laura Bruton 22/19 also performed well.
Mat Pearce won over Taylor Hofman in the single men's Division 2, while Chrissie Macdonald triumphed over Laura Burton in the women's.
DLTC spokesperson Greg Malcher said the season saw many players hit the courts.
He said the courts were a delight to play on with credit going to curator Wayne Bull and his father Ron.
The club will hold its annual general meeting in August.
