DAYLESFORD Football Club encourages home-grown youngsters to join the team in its first season with Central Highlands Football League.

In its new league, the club is pushing for juniors to play with the club all the way through to senior level.

Newly appointed coach Luke Adams said the club wanted to recruit local footballers.

"There's a lot of young people out there," Adams said.

"We have seen the benefits of the move within three months."

Mr Adams encouraged locals to try senior football.

"They will be given a chance to play," he said.

Mr Adams said the club's pre-season training had been enthusiastic.

"It's been second to none. We started in November and it's been the best pre-season we've had," he said.

Mr Adams said the team had no goals at this stage, but was happy to be running out on the ground.

"We'll give it everything we've got. It's an exciting time going to a new league," he said.

Seniors train every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6pm at Victoria Park.

Juniors train at Victoria Park on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5pm.
