VICTORIA Park is due for a makeover - thanks to a group of community members calling themselves The Vic Park Association.
Spokesman Allan McLeod said the group wanted to build a multi-purpose facility that would cater for all sporting clubs along with providing a covered area for events, festivals and shows.
Mr McLeod said the association, made up of himself, his wife Faye McLeod, Wayne Evans and Maree Phypers, had already approached a number of bodies for funding and was now calling for letters of support from potential users.
"Hepburn Shire Council, in May 2006, completed a Master Plan for Victoria Park, Daylesford and this proposed pavilion development is in line with that," he said.
"The Vic Park Association has been working (with council) to ensure the project is in line with council's procedures.
"At this early stage in the project's development the association is calling for letters of support from current and potential user groups who believe they may use the facility for their activity.
"It is proposed to construct a multi-purpose facility that contains a large function room, meeting/committee rooms, kitchen, canteen, change rooms, stepped terrace, timekeeper's box, first-aid facility and storage."
Mr McLeod said the letters of support would be used to support funding applications.
Those already behind the proposal include the Daylesford Football and Netball Club, the Daylesford & District Cricket Association, Highland Gathering, Daylesford & District Pipes and Drums, Daylesford Agricultural Show, the Table Tennis Club, Homing Pigeon Club and St John Ambulance.
Mr McLeod said he believed the building would cost $1.5 million at most and could be completed within a two or three year time frame.
"We are a committed group and we are going to do this."
