Daylesford appoints historic coach

10 Jan, 2006 04:56 PM
DAYLESFORD Football Club has secured its historic first Central Highlands Football League coach.

Luke Adams, 30, was re-appointed as playing coach, having stepped down from the job at the end of last season.

He took the first training session at Victoria Park on Monday night.

Adams said he always wanted to coach the club after the excitment leading up to the 2006 season.

"It was my enthusiasm that made me want to coach again," he said.

Daylesford president John Goullet was happy with the outcome.

"We canvassed a lot of potential coaches but in the end we decided we would stay with what we know," he said.

The club was chasing AFL draft discards David Haynes of Geelong and Ty Zantuck of Richmond and Essendon.

Mr Goullet also revealed the club would be in AFL Bulldogs colours for season 2006.

It has changed its colours from the red and blue of the Demons to the blue, red and white of the Western Bulldogs.

Mr Goullet said the club is looking to recruit a number of volunteers for the new season.

Interested people should contact John Goullet on 5348 3080.

Daylesford's first game will be played on Saturday, April 22.
